  • District Award of Merit - This is the highest honor that a district can award.  It can only be
    awarded once in an adult scouter’s lifetime.  Past recipients are listed separately.  Nominations must
    be turned in on the Atlanta BSA original form that can be obtained via the Sweetwater website or by

  • Scout Spirit - Awarded to any registered scouter who has helped promote scouting in the district
    such as recruiting, fund raising, FOS, camp staff, program chair, etc…

  • Hot Spark Award - Generally awarded to a first or second year scouter in your pack, troop, post, or

  • Shining Light - Generally awarded to an individual, business, or organization that has helped the
    scouting program on a district level financially or materially, such as donating money, facilities,
    material goods for scout programs and/or projects.  They do not have to be registered Scouters.

  • Roger Allen Cheerful Service Award - Awarded to an adult who exemplifies the Order of the
    Arrow motto of “Cheerful Service”. Just as anyone can vote for someone to be nominated for the
    Order of the Arrow, any adult may nominate and individual for this award. The winner could be a
    member of the Sweetwater or Pickett’s Mill District and may or may not be a member or the Order of
    the Arrow.
